Canadian production is centered in western Canada, which accounted for about 95% of total production in 2020. The remaining 5% was produced mostly in Newfoundland and Labrador. Alberta, Saskatchewan, and Newfoundland produce 96% of Canada’s oil. These three are also the only provinces that produce heavy oil.
