  5. Soon enough, The Burning Court becomes a supernatural murder mystery, with multiple possible suspects. Julien Duvivier takes full advantage of the setting, a nearly empty chateau decaying in the woods, to establish a wonderfully spooky atmosphere. For the most part, the performances are competent and convincing. The funeral is wonderfully surreal.
