Thursday evening, James became the first woman from OMRF and just the third scientist in the foundation’s 77-year history to be inducted into the hall of fame.
As OMRF’s chief medical officer, Dr. Judith James oversees all clinical activities at the foundation, which treats and conducts clinical research involving thousands of patients suffering from lupus, rheumatoid arthritis, multiple sclerosis and other autoimmune diseases.

Judith Ann James (born August 8, 1967) is an American rheumatologist. She first came to Oklahoma Medical Research Foundation (OMFR) as a Sir Alexander Fleming Scholar in the summer of 1988, and then joined the foundation’s scientific staff in 1994.
In October 2022, Dr. James became the first woman from an Oklahoma institution to be elected into the prestigious National Academy of Medicine. Dr. James received this honor by being “a pioneer in the field of autoimmunity” and “significantly advancing the understanding of how autoimmune diseases start and how immune responses evolve”.
