  6. In the late 1940s Bannerman left the stage to write comedies in collaboration with her husband, Harold Brooke. Many of their nineteen scripts were produced on the stage and several were filmed. Bannerman and Brooke's works include The Iron Maiden, No, My Darling Daughter, and their most successful piece, Let Sleeping Wives Lie.
