Jul 27, 2023 · Uniondale, NY (July 27, 2023) – New York Riptide defenseman and team captain Dan MacRae has announced his retirement from the National Lacrosse League after 13 years, 12 seasons, and an NLL Championship with the Calgary Roughnecks in 2019.
Not long after Dan MacRae fired home the overtime goal that lifted the Riptide to the first win in franchise history on Saturday night, the veteran defenseman and team captain was concluding his post-game television interview.

Jul 28, 2023 · DENVER – The Colorado Mammoth of the National Lacrosse League (NLL) today announced the organization has signed Defensive Coordinator Dan MacRae to a multi-year contract. The new contract will take effect immediately, with MacRae joining Pat Coyle and Jason Bishop on the bench for the upcoming 2023-24 NLL season.
Mar 25, 2024 · Dan MacRae is also in his first season as the defensive coordinator for the Colorado Mammoth in the NLL. A proven leader and captain of 2 different NLL teams, he only retired from playing in 2023 so he is bringing a fresh perspective to a pro bench in a role that he’s learning and growing in towards a bright future.
