Jean Negulesco (born Ioan Negulescu; 13 March [ O.S. 29 February] 1900 – 18 July 1993) was a Romanian-American film director and screenwriter. [1] He first gained notice for his film noirs and later made such notable films as Johnny Belinda (1948), How to Marry a Millionaire (1953), Titanic (1953), and Three Coins in the Fountain (1954). Jul 18, 1993 · Jean Negulesco (26 February 1900 – 18 July 1993) was a Romanian-born American film director and screenwriter. Born in Craiova, he attended Carol I High School. In 1915 he moved to Vienna, in 1919 to Bucharest, where he worked as a painter, before becoming a stage decorator in Paris.

Jean Negulesco was born in Craiova, Romania, on February 26, 1900, the son of a hotelkeeper. Art was Negulesco's first love, and by his mid-teens he was a precocious painter. When composer Georges Enesco visited the military hospital where Negulesco worked during the First World War, the youthful Negulesco drew a portrait of him, and Enesco bought it.
