Savannah Knoop (born 1981) is an American artist and filmmaker. From 1999 to 2005, Knoop performed the public role of literary hoax JT Leroy.

Savannah Knoop is an NYC-based multi-disciplinary artist, and writer. They received their BA at CUNY under the mentorship of Vito Acconci, and their MFA at Virginia Commonwealth University in Sculpture+Extended Media.
May 3, 2019 · Knoop eventually wrote a memoir about the experience of becoming the physical embodiment of Leroy, befriending Dennis Cooper, Winona Ryder, Courtney Love, Bruce Benderson, Gus Van Sant, and Asia Argento, and keeping Albert’s character in the public eye for six years before being exposed.
