John C. Walsh is an American independent film director and screenwriter who initially gained recognition with the debut of his film Ed's Next Move at the 1996 Sundance Film Festival. He has also directed the film Pipe Dream (2002) and most recently wrote the screenplay for Dalíland (2022).
John C. Walsh is a social historian of 19th-century and 20th-century Canada, with research interests in governmentality, space/place, memory, and the teaching and learning of history. He is also a hopelessly proud father of three who, between mid October and the end of June especially, is deeply concerned with the progress of the Boston Celtics.

John C Walsh teaches Canadian history and public history in Carleton University’s Department of History and is the Co-ordinator of the M.A. in Public History Program. He researches Canadian social history and its intersections with issues of space, place, and memory.
