Oct 7, 2009 · The Steel Guitar Forum. Just got word that legendary Texas guitarist Leon Chambers passed away this morning. Not unexpected, given his worsening condition the past few months, but sad nonetheless. The big swing band upstatirs just got one hell of a guitar player.
Leon Chambers is known for Above the Clouds (2018), The Long Lonely Walk (2010) and Stolen Youth (2008).

Convicted of murdering a black police officer in 1969 in Woodville, Mississippi, Leon Chambers was sentenced to life in prison. His conviction was overturned in 1972 when the U.S. Supreme Court ruled that the exclusion of witness testimony deprived Chambers of a fair trial.
