John Bedford Lloyd (born January 2, 1956) was an American character actor. Lloyd was born in New Haven, Connecticut, the son of Ann Storrs Lloyd and Edward B. Lloyd of Southport, Connecticut. His father was an architect. He has a sister, Susan Storrs Lloyd, and a brother, Thomas Bedford Lloyd. Thomas was married to Susan DeLong Ball.
Lloyd has split time between the theater, television, and feature films, but his imposing 6' 5" frame and hard-edged features keep him cast mostly in formidable, villainous roles. He landed a prominent television role in 1985 on the short-lived CBS dramedy "Hometown," an adaptation of the baby-boomer reunion film "The Big Chill."
