Barry Louis Larkin (born April 28, 1964) is an American former professional baseball shortstop. As a player he spent his entire 18-year Major League Baseball (MLB) career with the Cincinnati Reds from 1986 to 2004.

Barry Larkin combined his speed, power, and defense to become one of the best major league shortstops of the 1990s. A lifetime member of his hometown Cincinnati Reds, Larkin helped to lead the Reds back to the World Series after the “Big Red Machine” had faded, becoming one of the team’s most iconic players and leaders.
Larkin scored at least 80 runs in a season seven times, hit 30-plus doubles in six seasons and stole 30-or-more bases five times. He won his three Gold Glove awards at shortstop en route to a career fielding percentage of .975 and won nine Silver Slugger awards.
Apr 27, 2022 · Larkin became the first Major League shortstop to have at least 2,000 hits, 170 homers and 350 stolen bases. He was also the fourth Reds player in the modern era to reach 2,000 hits -- behind Pete Rose (3,358), Dave Concepcion (2,326) and Johnny Bench (2,048).
