The Galway-Mayo Institute of Technology (GMIT; Irish: Institúid Teicneolaíochta na Gaillimhe-Maigh Eo) was an institute of technology, located in Galway, Ireland. In April 2022, it was formally dissolved, and its functions were transferred to Atlantic Technological University (ATU). [1]
GMIT was established in 1972 as a Regional Technical College and became an Institute of Technology in 1998. It is now part of Atlantic Technological University (ATU), a new TU in the West/North West region of Ireland.
GMIT is a polytechnic institution in west Ireland with five campuses offering professional and vocational courses. It ranks among the top 201+ European universities for teaching quality, according to Times Higher Education.
