Mar 16, 2008 · Born in 1950s London to Polish immigrants who fled a Russian concentration camp during World War II, Lech Kowalski grew up in an environment of nomadic displacement and adjustment. His family finally settled in the post-industrial Rust Belt suburban town of Utica, in Upstate New York.
