The Night They Killed Rasputin (Italian: L'ultimo zar, French: Les nuits de Raspoutine), also known as Nights of Rasputin, is a 1960 Italian-French historical adventure film co-written and directed by Pierre Chenal, and starring Edmund Purdom and Gianna Maria Canale.
Synopsis. Rasputin, a lustful peasant monk, cures Alexei, heir apparent to the Russian throne, of hemophilia and wins the complete confidence of the czarina. Thus begins Rasputin's rise to power and influence in the imperial court.
