A filmed stage production of Rainer Werner Fassbinder´s play “Women in New York”, which is an adaptation of Clare Boothe´s play “The Women”. Fassbinder is in his element with this heightened campy yet scathing melodrama about a group of loud and catty rich women who gossip, scheme, and stab each other in the back.
Overview. The main characters in this film are wives of rich men who have nothing to do because they have staff – like the cook, the maid, the hairdresser, the manicurist, the governess, the teacher, the tailor etc. – who work for them.
