The film is as much about Meenakshi and Raja's deliciously vague relationship as it is about a turbulent society trying to cope with the violence by which it is beset.
Meenakshi Iyer, who is from a strict orthodox Hindu background, is returning with her young child to her husband in Chennai after vacationing with her parents. By chance, she gets a co-passenger who is also going to Chennai: photographer Rajah, introduced by a friend of her father.
A woman (Konkoka Sensharma) saves a photographer (Rahul Bose) from Hindu extremists, and together they become stranded in a town under martial law.
