The film is based on the true story of the torture and murder of Sylvia Likens by Indianapolis single mother Gertrude Baniszewski. It premiered at the 2007 Sundance Film Festival.
A true story of a teenage girl who was tortured and killed by a group of children in the basement of their house in the 1960s. The film shows the events leading up to the crime, the trial of the perpetrators, and the aftermath for the victims and the community.
