Feb 3, 1972 · HONOLULU, Feb. 2 (AP)—Ray Kinney, an entertainer who wrote and sang songs of the Hawaiian Islands for more than 50 years, died Monday. He was 71 years old.
Ray Kinney was a singer, composer, and troubadour who popularized Hawaiian music on the U.S. mainland for 57 years. He performed in radio, stage, and recordings, and mentored new talents such as Alfred Apaka and Eddie Kamae.
