  3. Biography. Bellomont, an Irish peer, left England in 1687 for the United Provinces, and, once there, accepted a commission in the English regiments serving in the Dutch army. Although summoned to return by James II, he entered into the service of Princess Mary, eventually sailing with her husband in the invasion fleet of 1688.
