Herodias (/ h ə ˈ r oʊ d i ə s /; Greek: Ἡρῳδιάς, Hērōidiás; c. 15 BC – after AD 39) was a princess of the Herodian dynasty of Judaea during the time of the Roman Empire. Christian writings connect her with the execution of John the Baptist .
Herodias (died after 39 ce) was the wife of Herod Antipas, who was tetrarch (ruler of a minor principality in the Roman Empire) of Galilee, in northern Palestine, and Peraea, east of the Jordan River and the Dead Sea. She conspired to arrange the execution of John the Baptist.
