William IV (Willem Karel Hendrik Friso; 1 September 1711 – 22 October 1751) was Prince of Orange from birth and the first hereditary stadtholder of all the United Provinces of the Netherlands from 1747 until his death in 1751.

Jun 28, 2017 · William IV was the third son of George III and the brother of George IV. At the age of 13, William became a midshipman and began a career in the Royal Navy. In 1789, he was made Duke of Clarence. He retired from the Navy in 1790.
William IV, Prince of Orange, arrived in England in 1734 for his marriage to Anne, Princess Royal, eldest daughter of King George II and Queen Caroline. His health was not good so he went to Bath to take the waters for a few weeks, and they were married on 14 March in the Chapel Royal adjoining St James's Palace.
