Nathan Straus Jr. (May 27, 1889 – September 13, 1961) was an American journalist and politician from New York.
Nathan Straus was born to a German Jewish family in Otterberg in the former Palatinate, then ruled by the Kingdom of Bavaria (now part of present-day Germany), the third child of Lazarus Straus (1809–1898) and his second wife, Sara (1823–1876).
When they left for Europe their son Charles Webster Straus, later known as Nathan Straus, Jr., was enrolled in Princeton Uni-versity in NJ. In his oral history Nathan, Jr. described his dissat-isfaction with the university program. He decided to spend the year at the Heidelberg University where Otto Frank became his college roommate.
