Amite City (/ eɪ ˈ m iː t / ay-MEET or / eɪ ˈ m ɪ t / ay-MIT; commonly just Amite) is a town in and the seat of Tangipahoa Parish in southeastern Louisiana, United States. [3] The population was 4,141 at the 2010 census. It is part of the Hammond Micropolitan Statistical Area.
