Kremnica (nem. Kremnitz, maď. Körmöcbánya, lat. Cremnicium) je mesto ležiace v okrese Žiar nad Hronom. Už od 10. storočia sa v meste a okolí ťažilo zlato a striebro. Kremnica je od roku 1328 slobodné kráľovské banské mesto a od 14. storočia je prezývaná Zlatá Kremnica.
