HOUSTON – Astros players broke their silence for the first time since the MLB released a report detailing the Astros sign stealing scheme.
An MLB investigation confirmed in January 2020 that the Astros illegally used a camera system to steal signs during the 2017 regular season and postseason, during which they won the World Series, as well as in part of the 2018 season, in which they lost the American League Championship Series to the Boston Red Sox.

The Astros let right-hander Mike Fiers — the eventual whistleblower of their scheme — leave via free agency following the 2017 season. A minor move at the time, it set in motion their eventual downfall. After all, there's no guarantee Fiers would have spoken up had he never moved on from Houston.
