The King Charles III Coronation Medal is the first Canadian commemorative medal to mark a coronation. It was designed by Cathy Bursey-Sabourin, Fraser Herald at the Canadian Heraldic Authority at the Chancellery of Honours, Rideau Hall, and is manufactured by the Royal Canadian Mint.
The Coronation Medal is the first Canadian honour to feature the Canadian Royal Crown approved by His Majesty The King, as part of its design. The front side of the medal (obverse) features a crowned image of His Majesty King Charles III wearing coronation robes.
May 6, 2024 · The medal features the effigy of His Majesty King Charles III, as well as the Royal Cypher. The medal’s blue, red and white ribbon is evocative of the 1902 Edward VII Coronation Medal, one of the earliest coronation medals awarded to Canadians.
