May 26, 2005 · In the movie Black Cadillac (made in 2001/2002 directed by John Murlowski) a group of high school kids go on a roadtrip from Minnesota to Wisconsin, and are terrorised by a savage Caddy driver a la S.Spielberg’s Duel. Now at the beggining of the movie we are told that this is based on a true story.
Apparently based on true events, Black Cadillac begins ominously, from the viewpoint of an anonymous driver who tours his growling vehicle threateningly towards a roadhouse. This is the main thrust of the story: the Cadillac will be a vengeful, anonymous thing either prowling for victims or in hot pursuit of them.
Feb 2, 2010 · Murlowski also explains the “based on a true story” text at the top of the film - apparently one night he got into an altercation with some guys in a bar and was then chased by them for hours. You might think it’s thin, but compared to other claims in modern horror films, the film might as well be a docudrama.
