- Après-vous Madame (Gims & Soolking) My students LOVED this French song this past year. It is so catchy! Themes to explore in French class: the racism that Black and Arab men experience on a night out in the city, the juxtaposition of modern music and beloved classics.
- Ma soeur (Amel Bent, Camélia Jordana, Vitaa) I taught a group of amazing students for three+ years. Several groups of them chose this French song in particular to recreate their own music video.
- Laissez-moi danser (Monday, Tuesday) – Dalida. This French song was introduced to me by my work bestie! It is super catchy! Themes to explore in French class: danser, les jours dans la semaine, la vie, l’amour.
- Molle Twist Vanille-Vanille (Bleu Jeans Bleu) Okay – I am not going to lie. My teenage students actually stated that they hated this particular French song.
- Dommage -Bigflo & Oli. This song is one that I think tons of teens will love! It’s got an amazing message about going after what you want (and also has the conditional antérieur to help kids with that one!)
- Je te le donne – Vitaa & Slimane. I really like their songs they do together. I find the mix of their voices really beautiful. I’ve not listened to this one with students, but if I had older high schoolers, I would play it for them.
- A coup de rêves – Ben L’oncle Soul. I ❤️ this one! His voice is just amazing! Again, the message is super-positive, and his style is quite different from the other singers listed here.
- La Parisienne – Christophe Maé. I like this one, because he makes a lot of references to the cultural differences between Paris and his hometown in southern France.
