Grab a taxi to take you to Red Cabbage. It’s off the tourist path, in a residential area on the outskirts of the Zona Romantica. Traditional Mexican food is the name of the game here, dished up in a charmingly Bohemian resto. Go for the chiles de picadillo– peppers stuffed with ground meat, veggies and pine nuts, covered with a carrot sauce. It’s served with rice and a bean paste.
22) Barrio Bistro
Take Mexican fusion food. Crank up the quality. Serve it in a space filled with intriguing Mexican art. And you get Barrio Bistro. Chef Guillermo Wulff likes to personally explain the chalkboard menu to each table. The menu changes frequently.
