May 15, 2024 · To clean a microwave, start by filling a bowl halfway with water and adding 1 tablespoon (15 milliliters) of white vinegar. Then, microwave the mixture for 5 minutes, or until the walls inside the microwave start to fog up. Next, remove the bowl, and wipe down the inside of the microwave with a clean rag or paper towel to remove any food residue.

- Fill a microwave-safe bowl with one cup of water and 1/4-cup of white vinegar. If you don’t have vinegar handy, you can substitute one teaspoon of dish soap.
- Put the solution in your microwave and cook it for approximately one to two minutes (this depends on what wattage you’re using). For example, if you have a 1,200-watt or higher microwave, between one and one-and-a-half minutes should suffice.
- After the time is up, make sure to keep the door closed for three minutes or so. This will allow the steam to heat the bottom, sides, and top of your microwave.
