   • James Griffin, a fifteen-year-old boy, left Terrebonne, Quebec, to become a Montreal plumber's apprentice. In 1900, he started his own company to provide friendly and competent service to Montrealers just starting to understand the concept of indoor plumbing. James Griffin & Son's horse-drawn buggy and horse were a familiar sight in the streets.
