Jul 7, 2023 · After MVP seasons, coach of the year honours and six WCBL championships, Joe Carnahan has been hired as the first-ever coach for Saskatoon's new WCBL franchise.
In July, 2023, the Berries hired Joe Carnahan as its coach. Carnahan was a four-time WCBL coach of the year as manager for the Swift Current 57's, the team he helped lead to the WCBL championship three times. He also won three titles as a player for the 57's.

Joe played with the Swift Current 57’s on the team’s 2001, 2005, and 2006 championship squads in the Western Major Baseball League (WMBL), the predecessor of the WCBL.

Two-time WCBL MVP Joe Carnahan followed up a stellar playing career with an equally impressive run as the head coach and general manager of the Swift Current 57’s. During 12 seasons as the bench boss, Carnahan was named WCBL Coach of the Year four times and he helped Swift Current win titles in 2010, 2016 and 2017.

Carnahan recently informed 57’s President Brad Woods that he would be leaving the team after 13 seasons as the coach, which followed up on a decorated seven-year playing career in Swift Current.
