Shaka kaSenzangakhona (c. 1787 –22 September 1828), also known as Shaka Zulu (Zulu pronunciation:) and Sigidi kaSenzangakhona, was the king of the Zulu Kingdom from 1816 to 1828. One of the most influential monarchs of the Zulu , he ordered wide-reaching reforms that reorganized the military into a formidable force.

Jan 31, 2024 · In 1815, King Senzangakhona of the Zulu died after an illness and was succeeded by Shaka’s younger half-brother, Sigujana. He did not reign for long. With the support of Dingiswayo and the Mthethwa Paramountcy, to which all the tribes in the area belonged, Shaka returned to the Zulu tribe with a regiment of soldiers in tow.
