The regular human enemy of Dar, King Zad, was played by Steven Grives. Marc Singer, the Beastmaster from the original film, appears in the third season as Dartanus, the Spirit Warrior who helps Dar on his quest.
The evil King Zad (Steven Grives), leader of the Terrons, rounds up his troops and escapes with Kyra and the remaining prisoners, leaving Dar, Tao and Ruh behind.

King Zad and Dar, the BeastMaster, have a long and tumultuous relationship, which began when Zad captured Kyra, the love of Dar's life. Zad would also love to possess Dar's telepathic ability to speak with animals.
When King Zad (Steven Grives) learns the location of Qord (Marton Csokas) and his traitorous men, he gathers those loyal to him and sets out on a mission of murder. At the same time, Qord once again enlists men to overthrow Zad.
