I have found a great deal of information on McLagan Furniture company, founded in the later part of the 19th century (1886) by George McLagan, in Stratford, Ontario, Canada. It was a firm of some repute and was still manufacturing into the 1930s.
In 1951, Imperial Furniture Company relocated from 411 Albert Street to 93 Trinity Street. Under Dutch designer, Jan Kuypers, the company helped modernize Canadian furniture with innovative Scandinavian designs.

Greatest private benefactor. Named in honor of George McLagan, McLagan Drive is a fitting tribute to the man who was the greatest private benefactor of Stratford's famous parks system. He chaired the parks board from 1909 to 1918.
According to Edward Moogk in Roll Back The Years (National Library of Canada, 1975) "During 1917...in Ontario, the George McLagan Furniture Co. Ltd. of Stratford announced the introduction of a "strictly high-grade instrument" and a "superior" catalogue of 10- and 12-inch records. (pg. 63)
210 Water Street is the only example of the Beaux d’Arts style in Stratford. Built in1908/1909 by furniture maker, George McLagan, the building remained in the family for many years. Building features include the huge front portico, pilasters (resemble columns but are part of the wall) and capitals of the Ionic order.
