Ötzi, also called The Iceman, is the natural mummy of a man who lived between 3350 and 3105 BC. Ötzi's remains were discovered on 19 September 1991, in the Ötztal Alps (hence the nickname "Ötzi", German:) at the Austria–Italy border.
Jun 24, 2024 · Over 5300 years ago, Ötzi was crossing Tisenjoch/Giogo di Tisa in the Schnalstal/Val Senales Valley, South Tyrol, where he was murdered and preserved naturally in the ice. He is therefore older than the Egyptian pyramids and Stonehenge and the result of a series of highly improbable coincidences.
The above map shows the location of the discovery site of Otzi the Iceman. In terms of geography Otzi was found in the Alps. In terms of modern political geography he was found just inside the Italian border with Austria and not too far from Switzerland.
