Since reuniting in 1993, Steely Dan has toured steadily and released two albums of new material, the first of which, Two Against Nature, earned a Grammy Award for Album of the Year. Their final album of new studio material was 2003's Everything Must Go and the band has continued to release compilations, box sets and live albums on a regular basis.
- 'Aja' (1977) Steely Dan returned to the overt jazz rock of Countdown to Ecstasy from four years later, having learned a lot along the way. The result was both their creative and commercial high point, as Becker and Fagen explore very adult themes in an equally adult musical atmosphere.
- 'Countdown to Ecstasy' (1973) Though it arrived as their sophomore effort, Steely Dan's legend really starts in earnest here. Over a smart and concise run of eight songs, we find most every element of this band's Hall of Fame career – beginning with more overt jazz influences.
- 'Pretzel Logic' (1974) A return to the focused songcraft that they tried earlier on Can't Buy a Thrill, but with Donald Fagen and Walter Becker taking a firm grip on the steering wheel.
- 'The Royal Scam' (1976) In a way, Steely Dan almost had to dial it down a notch with Aja, the 1977 follow up to this album. After all, The Royal Scam had been a room-clearing roundhouse of snark.
