This year's tournament begins on Tuesday, Jan. 10 and goes until Sunday, Jan. 15. The playoffs begin with the quarterfinals and semifinals on Jan. 14. The championships will be played on Jan. 15.
The Canadian Open will be on Sportsnet for the majority of the tournament. The network will not broadcast the first two days of the Masters, with its coverage beginning on Thursday, Jan. 12. The tournament is being held at the Encana Arena in Camrose, Alta. It is the second time that the event is being hosted in Camrose. The 2018 Canadian Open also was held in the Alberta city.
In total, the 16 men's and 16 women's teams are competing for a share of the combined prize purse of $300,000. The money will be split up evenly towards the men's and women's, as each side will receive $150,000.
The Canadian Open has a different format than some of the other competitions in the Grand Slam. This event is a triple knockout system in the preliminary round.
