Most of the books mentioned, quoted, or referred to in the story are real. However, one is not -- The Late Bloomer by Leon Friedman may have "reviews" on book sites, but it doesn't really exist! Just goes to show that Gabrielle Zevin's writing skills can make a reader want to read The Late Bloomer.
