May 17, 2017 · I always saw Super Saiyan Rage as being the true successor to SSJ2, with the SSJ3 that Goku and Gotenks use being some sort of imperfect mutation.
In the manga, Trunks' SS2 form at full power was said to match Goku's SS3, meaning Trunks' base form is roughly 4x stronger than Goku's at the start of the Black arc (which makes no damn sense, but that's using the SS multipliers).
