Balmoral Castle (/ b æ l ˈ m ɒr əl /) is a large estate house in Aberdeenshire, Scotland, and a residence of the British royal family. It is near the village of Crathie , 9 miles (14 km) west of Ballater and 50 miles (80 km) west of Aberdeen .
Balmoral Castle has been the Scottish home of the Royal Family since it was purchased for Queen Victoria by Prince Albert in 1852, having been first leased in 1848. This year the grounds, gardens and exhibitions at Balmoral will open to the Public on a daily basis until Sunday 11th August and you can now book your tickets online.
