Ferndale Community School follows RCT admission procedures. Pupils normally transfer to Ferndale Community School at the end of Year 6 in their Primary School. We have five feeder primary schools, namely Maerdy Primary, Darren Park Primary, Tylorstown Primary, Pontygwaith and Penrhys Primary.
All RCT schools, including Ferndale Community School, follow the RCT Safeguarding Children procedures which are reviewed annually. The school will, in most circumstances, endeavour to discuss all concerns with parents about their children.

Ferndale Community School is a mixed English-medium 11-16 school maintained by Rhondda Cynon Taf local authority. There are currently 579 pupils on roll, which represents a decrease of nearly 100 pupils since the last inspection in November 2010.
