Dec 31, 2023 · The Tamnavulin distillery is a producer of single malt Scotch whisky that was founded in 1966. Distillery mothballed 1995. Ownership was transferred to Kyndal International in 2001, and then to the United Spirits division of United Breweries Group in 2007, operated by Whyte and Mackay Ltd.
The Tamnavulin whisky distillery draws its water from underground springs in the surrounding hillside and takes its cooling waters from the River Livet, whose headwaters rise in the Grampians in Moray before flowing eleven miles until their confluence with the River Avon.
Tamnavulin is the only distillery in the part of Scotland that used to be called 'Glenlivet' which is actually situated next to the river 'Livet' - all the other distilleries in the area are located further away from the river.
