Quiet Sun was an English prog rock band from the Canterbury Scene. It was originally formed around Dulwich College in 1970 as a four piece progressive rock band featuring Phil Manzanera (guitar), Bill MacCormick (bass), Charles Hayward (drums), and Dave Jarrett (keyboards).
Bill and Phil both left Dulwich College in 1969 and they reunited with Charles Hayward the following year to form a band called Quiet Sun. They recruited keyboard player Dave Jarrett and, briefly, sax player, Dave Monaghan, but were unable to find a suitable bass player.
Renowned as the band Phil Manzanera played with just before joining Roxy Music, Quiet Sun also had Charles Hayward , and Bill McCormack as key members. The album has echoes of Robert Wyatt-era Soft Machine and gives some hints of where some of the early fire of Roxy Music came from.

Quiet Sun, which was originally a Dulwich College group called Pooh and Ostrich Feather in 1970, was founded after MacCormick made friends with Robert Wyatt (the son of a friend of MacCormick’s mother).
