Nathan Phillips Square is an urban plaza in Toronto, Ontario, Canada. It forms the forecourt to Toronto City Hall, or New City Hall, at the intersection of Queen Street West and Bay Street, and is named after Nathan Phillips, mayor of Toronto from 1955 to 1962.
The revitalized Nathan Phillips Square houses a new, permanent stage that also acts as a landscape element and shade canopy on summer days. During the fall, winter and spring, the stage appears as an open, urban landscape that connects to the elevated walkways.
Having the iconic Toronto city hall buildings (both the old one, and the new one) in the background as well as excellent public lighting and decorations makes Nathan Phillips square an easily identifiable landmark downtown. Worth stopping by for great pictures and fun when events are on.
