He discovered that if the farmers planted a crop with lots of protein, the soil nutrients the cotton plants needed would return (as growing cotton took lots of nutrients from the soil).
    • Rachel Carson. Rachel Carson was born in 1907 and was an American marine biologist and conservationist. When looking at famous scientists, Rachel is remembered as someone who warned people about the dangers of chemicals in the ocean.
