- Stained glass Logo design, as a relatively modern invention, often seeks inspiration in the techniques and limitations of the past. In 2021’s case, many logo designers are finding enlightenment in the stained glass windows of the Dark Ages.
- Perspective drawing As iconic logo designer Lindon Leader once put it, great design is born from simplicity and clarity. These two virtues are what allow logo designs to effectively communicate the complex identity of a brand to a viewer.
- Simplistic geometry Shapes are the building blocks of imagery. But while primitive shapes such as triangles, squares and circles are often phased out once they have laid the groundwork, there is power in their pure simplicity.

- Meta (formerly Facebook) Best rebrand ever? Maybe not. Powerful? Absolutely. Meta’s new brand identity marks a tectonic shift in our social landscape. The new infinity symbol is an improvement on the old Facebook text, but it’s the new name that really caught our eye.
- Burger King. One of the most memorable logo redesigns of 2021 so far, Burger King started the year with a whopping rebrand. As we covered in our most recent logo design trends report, minimalism and nostalgia are seeing a surge in popularity in the world of logo design.
- Pfizer. Amidst a surge of recent attention, the big pharma company recently unveiled a new logo and symbol that leaps out of the old capsule design. 2021’s new positive space logo has a dynamism that was missing before, while familiar font elements retain the brand’s legacy for the coming decade.
- Planters. The Planters logo refresh is a good example of how to build off existing elements of an already recognizable logo. Without losing the essential nature of the original, the new Planters logo is sturdy, fun, and confident.
- Hand-drawn and handwritten. Authenticity in design is a mega theme for 2022. People want to return to simplicity and, as we recently discussed in our look at marketing trends, prefer to buy from authentic and socially conscious brands.
- Letters as symbols. Wordmark logos are seeing a resurgence in 2022. More brands are using wordmarks to convey their brand’s personality. In wordmarks, letters are not used only to spell a word.
- Nostalgia: a megatrend. Over the past few years, a retro revival has dominated popular culture. We’ve seen it in TV shows, movies, music, and digital art.
- Gradients. Gradients have been popular for many years, especially in website design. Over the past few years, they’ve also become popular in logo design.
