High school DJ Born in 1974, Seacrest grew up in Dunwoody, Georgia, where his father, Gary, was a lawyer. He was an overweight child, teased by others, and preferred to stay indoors listening to the radio.
At age 14, he attended Dunwoody High School. At age 16, while still attending high school, he won an internship at WSTR in Atlanta where Tom Sullivan trained him in many aspects of radio. When a regular DJ called in sick, Sullivan put him on the air for the first show of his broadcasting career.

Dunwoody High School is located in Dunwoody, Georgia, a northern suburb of Atlanta. Dunwoody High School is a traditional high school in the DeKalb County School District which includes grades 9 through 12.
His association with WSTR continued until his graduation from ‘Dunwoody High School’ in 1992. Following this, he gained admission into the ‘University of Georgia’ to study journalism. He did not forsake his radio career and continued with his show at a local Athens station.

Dunwoody High School opened its doors in 1972 as Dunwoody was growing from a quiet bedroom community into a vibrant suburb of Atlanta. DHS graduated it’s first class in 1975, and in 1988 merged with Peachtree High School.
