Nov 12, 2014 · The exact location of the fort has been lost to history. A second fort (same name) was later (1690's) built in the same general area to control illegal trading, manned by a few troops. A companion post was also located on the south bank of the Ottawa River near Pointe-Fortune. Both later became normal trading posts.
