A few things to consider: Season one is pretty rough. The show didn't start earning respect until several seasons in. Season two starts to feel like the actual show. By season three, they're in full Seinfeld mode through the last episode of the series.
What makes Seinfeld such a good show? Recently, I've begun getting into watching Seinfeld for the first time. I've watched a sample of different episodes from throughout its 9 seasons, and I don't mean to sound like a hater, but I'm yet to understand why the show is considered so amazing and groundbreaking.
Seinfeld is such a smart show in that it makes the banality of everyday life the plot. It practically writes itself. And I like how each episode is basically the inspiration for Jerry's stand-up routines at the end credits too.
